Spreading The Happiness Advantage

Website Launch

HAPPY NEW YEAR! There is no better time to get started! We launched on the first day of the year and are now on our way to becoming a self-sustaining movement by years end.

Flipped the switch at 0001 on 01/01/2013, right after giving the wife her well deserved new year's kiss. :-)

I would ask you to consider this web presence as a beginning state and not an end state. It was designed to provide the key functionality needed to get the ball rolling. My approach to all things in life is agile and iterative, and so it will be with this site. I expect some of you will like it, some of you will hate it and some of you really won't have a strong opinion one way or the other. I want to hear back the most from those of you who either hate it or have a better idea.  Seriously!  Otherwise it will never improve or achieve our mission. I'm a firm believer that the "we" is always smarter than the "me."

If you support this movement, then this website belongs to YOU. It only exists to support you and others in spreading the Happiness Advantage through random acts of kindness - one book, one person at a time. To that end, I need you to let me know what additional features, functionality, information, etc. are needed to bring that vision into reality.

There are numerous ways for you to get involved and provide feedback. The easiest way is to use the CONTACT US link on the bottom of the home page. A second method is the SUBMIT AN IDEA link found on the CONTRIBUTIONS page. Please don't shy away from the CONTRIBUTIONS page; it's not JUST about donating money. Although money is an important need, there are two equally important parts to the definition of "contribution": (1) A gift or payment to a common fund or collection and (2) The part played by a person or thing in bringing about a result or helping something to advance. Both parts are well covered on this web site...so check it out and give me some feedback!

You will notice I took a minimalist approach to this site. There is very little security (e.g., username, password, etc.). Thought we'd start out inclusive and not exclusive. Besides, like you needed one more username/password to remember. We tried to design all of our data collection so as to avoid content that would fall under governmental regulations (e.g., Personally Identifiable Information). Let me know if you think we need more of that kind of stuff. When providing feedback ask yourself the following question: "If it was available on this website, what information or functionality would keep me coming back again and again?" That's what I am really looking for!

Now that the site is up and running, we'll be working to market it. You can help by talking it up on your social networks. We also have plans to leverage crowdfunding sites such as indiegogo and others to help raise capital to meet our 2013 year goals. More on that later...

Thanks for your support ahead of time and I'll talk to you soon.
